FATS TheArts

Theatre to create, educate and liberate.

Faezeh Jalali co-founded FATS TheArts in 2010 as FAT productions, with a play for the Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai, called “The Gift”, and then “UTSAV” in 2011. In 2012 FATS produced its first professional play with Weirdass Repetory, “All in the Timing” by David Ives (with permission from Josef Weinberger Pvt. Ltd, UK), and adapted by the ensemble, which opened at the NCPA Centre Stage Festival to a full house. Since then FATS has collaborated with Jhoom and Tram Theatre for “Re-Lay” and “Objects in the Mirror are Closer than they Appear”, respectively.

FATS TheArts is an initiative to explore alternative areas of the theatre arts. FATS aims to go beyond the ordinary realms of theatre and performance in Mumbai to explore and experiment with different techniques and ideas. FATS TheArts is about creativity and novelty in theatre with an emphasis on physical expression through movement, objects and the use of space.

FATS’ workshops are structured around these core ideas and are designed to encourage various forms of expression through alternative means. Thus, they work excellently for kids and adults – those in theatre and business alike.
